Home care is where someone gets help with daily tasks in the comfort of their own home

Instead of moving to a residential aged care facility.

This assistance can include things like personal care helping with bathing, dressing, or eating, cleaning, cooking, medication management, and sometimes even help with mobility or getting to appointments

What are the benefits of home care?

Home care is designed to support people, especially older adults or those with health issues, to live independently and safely in their own home for as long as possible. What does a day in the life of an older person receiving home care look like?

A day in the life of an older person receiving home care usually starts with a caregiver helping with getting up, washing, dressing, and having breakfast. Throughout the day, the caregiver may assist with things like housework, grocery shopping, or helping with appointments. They might also help with lunch, keeping the person active, and offering companionship.

In the evening, they help with dinner, medications, and getting ready for bed. The caregiver visits as needed, providing support to help the person stay independent and comfortable at home.
